Sandcastle Design

The Sandcastles were designed using surface modeling techniques in SolidWorks.

Designing the Mold

The core and cavity molds were designed using mold tools in SolidWorks.

Cavity Fabrication

The cavity mold was manufactured using the a Haas TL-1 triple axis Minimill. In order to achieve the precise details on the castle’s exterior multiple tools were used.

Core Fabrication

The core mold was manufactured using the a Haas TL-1 triple axis Minimill. In order to maintain an appropriate draft angle and smooth castle interior multiple tools were used.

Final Mold

Injection Molding

We used precise injection molding techniques and a Morgan Press machine in order to create 12 uniquely colored Sandcastles out of HDPE.
